Area 51 refers to a 4,687 square mile (roughly the size of Yorkshire) top secret US military base approximately 100 miles Northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada near Groom Lake. During the Cold War it was used to develop and test new spy planes mainly the U-2. The area was also used to test nuclear weapons. However the US government used to claims that it simply doesn't exist. If there is nothing there- why is there such high security?
In total, there have been over 900 atomic explosions in deserts. Most of them were below ground. Nowadays, the US government have a new cover story which is that Area 51 is simply used as a "bombing test site".
Since the 1950s aircraft under any authority, in any situation have been COMPLETELY banned from flying anywhere near that area. When the US government released satellite pictures of America, the only area that wasn't included was the Groom Lake area. What is so top secret that no-one can ever find out about it?
It wasn't until Bob Lazar claimed on a national television station in Las Vegas, that he used to be employed at Area 51, and Area 51 had been connected with anything to do with extra-terrestrial activity in 1989. He allegedly he saw photos and reports from alien autopsies and several alien spaceships. But is he telling the truth? Possible so, as a lie-dector test proved he was tell the truth.
Since this, many thousands of people have tried to discover what really happens there but still we know very little about it. Is it possibly a big secret to protect the very people who are trying to find out what is happening there?
The small town of Rachel has become very famous and popular with UFO fanatics because of this. Highway 375 has changed its name to "Alien Highway" as its allegedly the best place to see UFO at night.
Perhaps "area 51" is just a manifestation, perhaps we want there to be a big conspiracy so we have an excuse to hate the government (because we love that). Perhaps we would like the X-files to be true.....and for there to be a lifeform better than us. Or perhaps Area 51 is the decoy, to divert our attention away from "Area 51 Montana" or "Area 51 Oregon" or wherever. Maybe President Bush is glad we only know about ONE of them…..
When two Area 51 workers were seriously ill with an exposure to an unknown poison, their supervisors refused to tell doctors what they have been exposed to. So the doctors were unable to treat the poor workers and they later sadly died in 1994. Their families tried to sue the US government, not for money but to find out what had happened to their loved ones. Later it was discovered President Clinton has made this area "exempt from federal, state and international laws" meaning that they can basically do whatever they like! Toxic waste had been dumped and burnt on the "wind-receiving" (how clever) side of the base allowing deadly vapours to be breathed in by the workers which caused their skin to literal peal off. The court case was unsuccessful because the government wouldn't even acknowledge the fact that it existed or that the workers did either. But really, I believe exempting from all laws was just to cover-up the total cock-up that the government had made.
JANET (Joint Air Network for Employee Transportation) transports Area 51 workers to and from McCarran international Airport in Las Vegas near to Area 51. There are approximately 20 fights per day.
The base is funded by the $300 Billion "Black Budget" of taxpayers money.
