Visitors Guide to Holland
Holland is a wonderful country with lots of history and culture. The most famous of it's cities is Amsterdam and contrary to popular belief the city is not just full of drugs, sex and rock n roll.... but that's just what I like about it!
My email-buddy Tom has written some tips for when you're in Holland:
1) Not everyone is walking on wooden shoe's
2) Don't get mad when you've tried to learn some of the stupid Dutch words and still nobody understands you, you're probably in the north of Holland were people don't speak Dutch but a German-Dutch combination called "Fries"
3) Well ... just never try to speak Dutch
4) Whatever the tourist-agency wants you to believe, there IS a coffeeshop around every corner
5) Do NOT try to buy coffee in a coffee-shop
6) If you don't know how to make a beautiful joint don't worry, the police will be glad to help you
7) The queen is not ruling over Holland, she is just for decoration.
8) Don't fuck with Frank de Grave (note from Tom: just put this one on your site, every Dutch guest will understand it)
9) In Holland you can just use any bike you come across, if you can pick or destroy the lock it's all yours. However don't be surprised when it's not on the same spot anymore when you leave it for about ten minutes.
10) There's a national party called: "Koninginnedag" (which means: Queens-day) This is supposed to have something to do with the royal family but it's just an excuse to drink large quantities of alcohol at the same time.
