UfO's

A "UFO" is an "Unidentified Flying Object". Traditionally they have always been "saucer" shaped.

UFO sightings became popular just after the Russian satellite Sputnik was the first man-made object into space. People became paranoid at the thought that someone could be looking down us all the time from space and that other life forms may also be able to reach us. During the early 1950's science- fiction movies and shows fuelled this media- hyped frenzy.

The first supposed UFO sighting was in 25th June 1947 (before Sputnik) in Boise, Idaho (400 miles from Area 51 Nevada) . Below is a report of what happened.

"Mr Kenneth Arnold was flying over Mount Rainier in this plane. During his flight, Mr. Arnold witnessed a bring flash of light. During the next thirty seconds, he frantically searched the sky for the light's source - afraid that he was about to collide with another airplane. Shortly after the first blast of light, he saw a second. When he looked in it's direction, Arnold spotted nine objects, with the lead at a higher elevation than the rest, streaking south over Mount Baker towards Mount Rainier. Watching their progress, Arnold calculated their approximate speed to be at 1,700 miles per hour. Even when he arbitrarily shaved 500 miles per hour off that estimate, he was dealing with an impossible speed figure! The nine objects that he saw, darting in and out of the smaller peaks of the surrounding mountains, periodically flipped on their sides in unison. As they did so, the sunlight reflected off their lateral surfaces - thus explaining the flashes that had first caught his attention to the crafts. Following the unidentified objects across the sky for two and a half minutes, they disappeared, heading south over Mount Adams. This sightings of unidentified flying saucers in the sky marked the beginning to the age of correlation between UFO's in general and flying saucers."

Many UFOs have been allegedly seen over the skies of Area 51.

Personally I don't believe that UFOs are extra-terrestrial due to the fact that its too far for aliens to come which would involve too much fuel and time. Even if the aliens went over the speed of light it would still take many millions or even billions of years to travel to earth. And do you really think if they came all this way they would make crop-circles?

The BIG question is are UFO's extra-terrestrial? Are they new governmental spy-planes? Or are they just made up sad alien fanatics with boring lives?

Just recently the British Ministry of Defence has announced that they set up a secret "Flying Saucer Working Part" in the 1950's in the UK after there were many sightings in Sweden and USA. However the scientists believe that the earth is unlikely to be facing an alien invasion from space.
